And you’re right – you CAN do that. There are literally hundreds of titles out there – all vying for shelf space and covering everything from Gaga to lager; fishing to fashion; paparazzi to pepperoni. And each one of them is chockablock with articles written by people just like you.

VIDEO: Student Anna Hickey talks about the Magazine Writing course
"Valerie's honesty has given me confidence to write, write, write. She is an industry expert who
knows her stuff!"
- Elise Maki
"10/10. Informative and entertaining. The best course I have done in a
very long time."
- Eugene Soh
"Loved that Valerie remained on topic over the two days and kept everything relevant. She treated us all like adults who'd paid our money to learn and all the anecdotes she used were relevant to the course - I can't tell you how much I appreciated this. I can honestly say I got exactly what I paid for and what I'd hoped I'd get out of this course. It was jam-packed with so much information. A really excellent course."
- Tenar Dwyer
“I did the magazine writing course at the Australian Writers' Centre and it changed my entire life. I met an amazing number of talented and interesting people and the support on the Facebook graduates page has been amazing. So many doors have opened up. Absolutely incredible.”
- Rose Wintergreen
"Good value for money, clear content, interesting insight into how features articles are constructed and written. The presenter was passionate about the industry which is always a pleasure to listen to. She provided great anecdotes which brought the content to life. This was my first course with the Australian Writers' Centre but I think it was well run and certainly something I would recommend to others."
- Madeleine Young
"The presenter was knowledgeable and experienced in the industry. The course notes and examples were clear and spot on! I'm an English teacher and I found that I learnt a lot I could have used in the classroom. She was always interesting."
- Cheryl Dober
"Putting theory into practice was incredibly useful, as was the workshopping of story ideas and structures. Valerie was incredibly knowledgeable, and gave fantastic answers to all our questions. She was supportive, but also straight down the line when we were off the mark. A great balance."
- Louise Errington
“The advice was so practical and really interesting. The information and skills I learnt were invaluable and it's hard to believe so much content was fitted into just two days. I wish there had been more and the course was longer – it was just fantastic! Sue was a brilliant presenter, very friendly, and made the learning process really fun and easy. She had great examples for everything and made sure everything was fully covered and addressed. I would definitely recommend her. This course was really great, very practical and easy to understand with a great presenter who was passionate about her teaching topic.”
- Kirsten Hyam
"I was very impressed with the ease of signing up, the communication leading to the course start date, the course content, the ease of parking and the great location. It was so easy to attend classes and enjoy the content. Overall it had a very good vibe!”
