A writing course and literary feast
The Paris memoir writing course comprises of a series on nine half-day classes with Australia’s leading teacher of memoir, Patti Miller. Equivalent to a semester-long course, this intensive course offers a deep immersion in the ideas, techniques and practice of memoir writing and has been specifically designed to extend and enrich all levels of experience. All participants will also be able to sit down with Patti Miller for a one-hour personal writing consultation.
Complementing the writing course is a carefully selected reading list and a range of literary, cultural experiences such as fascinating lectures on French memoir and the history of Paris, a special literary soiree, a ramble around Paris with a local literary expert and a curated day trip outside of Paris.
Your Paris writing mentor
Patti Miller is the author of the bestselling Writing Your Life, the most popular text for life writing in Australia, as well as The Last One Who Remembers, Child, Whatever the Gods Do, The Memoir Book, Ransacking Paris, and the award-winning The Mind of a Thief. Her latest book, Writing True Stories is the key text for the Paris memoir workshops.
Many of her personal essays and articles have been published in literary magazines, Good Weekend and other national publications. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in writing from UTS and has 30 years teaching experience in universities and writers’ centres around Australia, including the Australian Writers’ Centre. She has been teaching memoir writing in Paris for 12 years.
