Fast-track your editing career with the 2020 Residential Editorial Program

Calling all editors!

Applications for the 2020 Residential Editorial Program hosted by the Australian Publishers Association is now open.

According to the media release, the Residential Editorial Program is “an intensive 5-day program for talented mid-career editors in the Australian book industry to work with experienced mentors and speakers.”

So if you’re a mid-career editor, this should be right up your alley.

But what actually happens at the 5-day program? According to the media release: “Participants work on a draft manuscript of a book that hasn’t yet been published, provided in strict confidence by an Australian author and publisher.”

Kirstie Innes-Will from Black Inc participated in the program in 2017. This is what she thought of the experience:

“It was simply the most rewarding professional experience of my career. The atmosphere of collegiality that was fostered made it stand out from any other kind of training or education I've attended in the industry. It felt like everyone checked their egos and their allegiances at the door. This made for very open and generous exchanges –especially in our small groups, but also in the larger group. The REP certainly exceeded my (high)expectations. It’s very gratifying to have finally made it to the REP and discovered it to be even more enriching than hoped.”

The 2020 program will take place 27 July – 1 August in Sydney.

Applications close 30 March 2020.
