Meet the Australian Writers' Centre team

With courses constantly launching across the country and online, keeping the Australian Writers’ Centre a well-oiled machine is quite the challenge. Luckily for us, we have a merry band of behind-the-scenes magicians who not only make it look easy but sometimes even whistle while they do it. From marketing to meet-ups, newsletters to new courses, or support for students and presenters alike, these heroes go above and beyond to keep the Australian Writers’ Centre at just the right level of awesomeness.

Two people I’m inspired by: Margaret Atwood. Such a talented writer spreading herself across nearly every written genre – essays, novels, short stories, poems and excelling in all of them. Also Ernest Hemingway is such a fantastic writer.

Book: Pride and Prejudice – it’s my classic, feel-good, go-to novel.

Word: “Sherplex” (verb) – to unnecessarily complicate a simple situation; to obscure the answer to an otherwise easily solvable problem (a made up word courtesy of the emotionary).

Lyric: “The sun may rise in the east but at least it settles in a finer location” – not to say the west is better than the east, but suffice to say if I were ever stuck in the bush, I would literally need the Red Hot Chili Peppers to remind me where the sun rises and sets.
