Voices of Women Program now open for 2020

The Voices of Women Writing Competition for 2020 is now open!

Are you writing short narrative stories in the first-person voice? Join the adventure in 2020 as Voices of Women presents CLEARWAY: CREATE THE SPACE: The annual writers’ competition. Hear your own short stories performed live by amazingly powerful women actors in rehearsed readings beginning in Sydney and travelling to regional NSW from March 2020 onwards.

According to the website:

Voices of Women is a not for profit organisation to support new work by Australian women writers. This flash fiction/performance program began in 2018 to showcase new work by Australian women writers and collaborate with writers and artists across Australia. It brings together literature, performance art and the writing and acting community.

But this isn’t your average writing competition.

Actors create a performance piece based on the works written.

According to the website:

The annual program begins with a writing competition open to all Australian women writers and develops into a performance piece in immersed and unusual audience spaces. The events often also include exhibitions of women visual artists.

According to past participants in the program:

“Knowing that my story was accepted into this program was a turning point for me as a writer.” Susan Francis, author of The Love That Remains, published by Allen and Unwin, 2019.

“Being accepted into this program was a life changing event for me in many ways. It gave me such confidence and since then my writing work has developed in a way I couldn’t have imagined.” Edilia Ford, corporate escapee, pursuing a life as a writer.

Entries close on 2 February 2020.
