COMP CLOSED ‘The True Story of Maddie Bright’ by Mary-Rose MacColl

This week we’re giving away three copies of bestselling author Mary-Rose MacColl’s latest book, The True Story of Maddie Bright. MacColl previously brought us In Falling Snow and returns here with a “spellbinding tale of friendship, love and loyalty”.

Here’s a quick synopsis:

In 1920, 17-year-old Maddie Bright accepts a job as a serving girl on the royal tour of Australia by Edward, Prince of Wales. What starts as a desire to help her family, devastated by the recent war, becomes for Maddie a chance to work on something that matters. However, when the unthinkable happens, it is swift and life changing.

Decades later, Maddie Bright is living in a ramshackle house in Paddington, Brisbane. But when London journalist Victoria Byrd gets the sniff of a story that might lead to the true identity of a famously reclusive writer, Maddie's version of her own story may change.

Told across 1920, 1981 and 1997, these three strands twist across the seas and over two continents to build a compelling story of love and fame, motherhood and friendship.

Want to win a copy? It’s easy! Simply tell which year out of 1920, 1981 or 1997 you’d want to visit for a day and WHY (in 25 words or fewer). Your reasons can be serious or humorous, and if yours is one of our favourite three entries, you'll win a copy of the book for your collection.

ENTER USING THE FORM BELOW.

Entries close midday Monday 10 June 2019, Sydney/Melbourne time.
