New Essay Writing Competition Launched – The Horne Prize

Essay writers rejoice! Here’s your chance to put your skills to the test.

The Saturday Paper and Aesop have teamed up to bring a brand new essay competition. The Horne Prize is valued at $15,000 and will be awarded to an essay of up to 3,000 words.

The theme of the essay must be an aspect of “Australian Life”.

From the Horne Prize website:

The essay could be a profile or a reported feature centred on a particular issue, or a series of vignettes or something else that explains who we are and how we live. It could be hard news or it could be something softer, so long as it is grounded in interviews and observation.

Named after Donald Horne, Australian essayist, journalist, and public intellectual, this prize is open to all Australian writers.

Entries close on 31 October 2016.

Find out more and submit your entry on The Horne Prize website.
