Allison Tait, Presenter
Allison Tait is a freelance writer with more than 20 years’ experience in magazines, newspapers and online publishing. During that time, her byline has been seen regularly in titles such as marie claire, CLEO, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Australia, Sunday Life, Spectrum (The Sydney Morning Herald), Essential (The Sydney Morning Herald), Weight Watchers, Australian Women’s Health, Voyeur, Qantas: The Australian Way, Madison, and Elle, as well as House & Garden, Belle, Vogue Living, Australian Country Style and more.
Allison’s first children’s book series, The Mapmaker Chronicles, has won her a legion of fans across the country, and is now available in the US, UK, and other territories around the world. Race To The End Of The World (The Mapmaker Chronicles #1) was shortlisted for the Readings Children’s Book Prize 2015, was a Notable book in the 2015 CBCA Children’s Book Of The Year (Younger Readers) Award, and has been shortlisted for a range of children’s choice awards.
Prisoner Of The Black Hawk (book #2) was shortlisted for the 2015 Aurealis Awards, and books 3 and 4 (Breath Of The Dragon, Beyond The Edge Of The Map) continue the bestselling adventures of The Mapmaker Chronicles. The Book Of Secrets, the first book in Allison’s Ateban Cipher series, is out in September 2017.
Allison has also written four non-fiction books, including Career Mums (Penguin Australia, January 2012), Credit Card Stressbusters (Wiley, 2009) and two ghost-written memoir/biographies.
Having held on-staff roles, from sub-editor to features editor to online editor, at a range of publications, including Vogue Australia, CLEO, and House & Garden, Allison has a breadth of industry experience, which she now shares at the Australian Writers’ Centre.
