Natasha Lester

Natasha is an award-winning author of historical fiction. Her latest novel is The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard, a gripping homage to women and fashion. Her other recent novels include The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre, a fascinating tale that braids espionage and fashion in World War II Europe, and The Riviera House, a lush, engrossing and deeply moving story of the brave women who worked against the Nazis. Natasha's other historical novels include The Paris Secret, a sweeping story of bravery and love set during World War II, The French Photographer (or The Paris Orphan in the US), about a female photojournalist in Paris during the Second World War, and The Paris Seamstress, which is set in the male-dominated world of 1940s New York fashion.

Natasha's novel, Her Mother's Secret, is a story of love and ambition set in England and Manhattan between 1918 and 1939 and was released in March 2017 by Hachette Australia. A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald, set in the Jazz Age in New York, was released by Hachette Australia in 2016 after a bidding war between publishers. Her previous novels are If I Should Lose You (2012) and What is Left Over, After (2010).

Natasha has been described by The Age newspaper as a “remarkable Australian talent” and was awarded an Emerging Writers’ Fellowship by the Australia Council for her second book. She was also the recipient of the TAG Hungerford Award for Fiction.

She has been the recipient of grants from the Australia Council and her work has also appeared in The Review of Australian Fiction and Overland, and the anthologies Australian Love Stories, The Kid on the Karaoke Stage and Purple Prose. In her spare time, she loves to teach and is a sought-after public speaker. She’s often seen drinking tea, doing headstands at yoga, or playing dress-ups with her three children.
